CAL ...

Yesterday I found a CAL over on Sweet Kiwi Crochet and as soon as I saw what it was I go my hook out and made a start. This CAL is to make a motif afghan and you can choose from around 15 different templates. It started on the 1st May but I didnt discover it untill late last night so have only managed to make 16 mini granny squares as far but my hook will be very busy today. I'm not going to reveal which template I have chosen yet ... you will have to keep checking back :o)

For any of you that dont know what a CAL is well basically its a group of crocheters who work on the same project over a number of weeks. At the end of each week every-one can show off how they have been getting along and at the end every-one shows their finished piece.

This is my 1st CAL and I'm so excited and cant wait my afghan to start taking shape :o)

Completed was the multicolour granny square blanket and the pink and white ruffle cushion and here are the results :o)

I'm especially in love with the multi colour granny square blanket. I might keep it for myself :o)

* Lemon & white granny square blanket
* Pink & lilac granny square blanket
* 6 scarves ( I count this as 1 project)

Finish before Starting?

I have to admit, I hold my hands up high ... I am a compulsive project starter.
I keep starting new projects before finishing others. My problem is I see something that I REALLY want to stitch and I just have to do it and put other things aside, so today I decided to count my current projects ...

* Multi colour granny square blanket (need to order a ball of yarn)
* Multi colour granny square patch work cushion (3 more squares + back to do)
* Lemon & white granny square blanket
* Pink & lilac granny square blanket
* 6 scarves ( I count this as 1 project)
* Lilac basket weave blanket
* Baby blue basket weave blanket
* Pink & white ruffle cushion ( front to finish & back to make)

More than I thought :/
My task now is to finish all of these before I start a new project ..... Let's see if that actually happens, lol

Cupcakes ...

I've been planning for a while to do some craft fairs at the end of the year. I have been researching display methods and ways to price my things then I had the idea of using a photo holder then I thought " I wonder if I could crochet something" and thats when I came up with is ...

I'm really pleased with the way they have turned out, I've also thought about adding some fragrance oil to them to make them smell like real cupcakes :o)

I can't wait to see how they would look on a real craft stall.

Clover Hooks

I have a mountain of crochet hooks .. all different sizes and colours but I've always had a problem with my hand cramping when crocheting for a long time and especially when using a smaller hook. So when a fellow crocheter recommended I try a Clover Hook I thought why not.

For those of you who don't know what a clover hook is well basically a crochet hook with a large supportive grip by a company called Clover.

I ordered 3 in sizes 3mm, 4mm and 5mm. I've found that with the 5mm hook my tension is alot looser so I think for projects using bigger hook sizes I will stick to my normal hooks but I'm absolutly in love with the 3mm & 4mm. My hand is so much better and isn't cramping and the hooks themselves are really smooth and lovely to work with.

Weaving

So I's been a while since I last blogged ... I have no excuses I'm just not a very good blogger, I simply forget :o(

So here is my latest project. It's a new style for me and it's called a basket weave blanket.

I have really enjoyed this style. It took abit of getting use to because it's not crocheted in the "normal" style. The blue blanket will be a gift for my son's teacher who is having a baby boy due in July :o) I can't wait for her to see it.

Have a great day every-one :o)
